Abstract:
The food grain is procured from the farmers during the harvesting season in the procurement
centers by allocating the villages to a particular procurement center. The location of procurement
centers is decided by considering that the farmers should travel the minimum distance to sell
their produce. Once the procurement center's location is finalized, farmers bring their produce to
an allocated procurement center for selling their produce. After the completion of the food grain
procurement, the procured food grain is stored in the central warehouses. Hence, an optimal
distribution plan is developed to transport the food grain from the procurement centers to the
central warehouses. This plan minimizes the transportation cost.
