The case is on a Bollywood film called Indu Sarkar, produced in 2017. Before its release for public view, the film has to go through a review and certification process by a government agency called Central Bureau of Film Certification (CBFC). Apparently, the theme of the film refers to a historically and politically significant event that took place in India from 1975 to 1977, infamously known as the Emergency. While the ruling party at the time of the Emergency, Congress is the opposition party in the Indian parliament today (as of 2017). Several opposition party members who were severely affected by the imposition of Emergency in the 1970s are in the current ruling party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) (as of 2017). |
